Last night, I learned that The Ammonite Violin & Others has made the cover of Publishers Weekly (Volume 257 Issue 27 07/12/2010). It should go without saying that I am quite entirely pleased and somewhat gobsmacked. Here's the cover (the largest image I could find):

You can read the cover story here. And there's also a nice profile of Subterranean Press in the same issue, which you can read here.

Sadly, not only do I not have a subscription to Publishers Weekly, we spent part of the morning calling bookshops in Providence and Warwick, including the Brown University Bookstore, and were unable to find anyone who carries it. So, if some kind reader could please send me a copy, I would obviously be very, very grateful:

I need to let Rick Kirk know...

That's awesome! Congratulations! I don't have easy access to a copy, unfortunately.

I read the article yesterday, but didn't realize it was the cover! Wow!

Congrats! Honestly can't say I'm surprised, though.

(Which I see, on posting, does not quite convey my point, which is that your fiction is in a class all its own, and continued Old Gent-style cosmicism in a way that I don't think anyone else has quite done, with the exception of Thomas Ligotti, who's taken it in other directions.)

Congrats! It's a gorgeous book, and deserves the exposure.

I'll check the University bookstore tomorrow for a copy of PW.

I checked and, while the U's bookstore carries PW, they only had the prior issue. I'll check back later, unless you've managed to locate copies elsewhere.

I can check the local Borders or Barnes & Noble here in Minneapolis/St. Paul tomorrow and see if they carry it.

Booya! My work subscribes to PW, but I can't send you a library copy (unless, of course, I want the very vicious library police coming after me).

Congratulations!! But perhaps condolences are in order too, upon your literally becoming the cover girl of the (publishing) Establishment? :)

Publisher's Weekly is hard to find in bookstores, as it is primarily a trade magazine for booksellers and libraries. We get it here at the Athenaeum. We sometimes get an extra copy, and I would gladly set one aside for you. Barring that, I would ask at your local library branch. You may have to wait until the librarians are finished with them, but as its not something usually processed for circulation, they may be glad to hand over a copy as well. Congratulations! Always glad to see local writers (You AND Howard) make press.

Directing applause and a toast your way. Aw hell, directing applause and a toast toward PW for their superior taste in authors. Did they enjoy an epiphany?

Just read this hysterical article, and am now quite sleepless:

BP May Have Triggered a World-Killing Event (http://www.helium.com/items/1882339-doomsday-how-bp-gulf-disaster-may-have-triggered-a-world-killing-event).
