Having established that Twilight is the disease, it's good to know that there's a cure, even if it's presently only available in limited areas. Låt den rätte komma in, directed by Tomas Alfredson, based on the novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, starts in Providence this coming Friday. It looks gloriously brutal and decidedly unsparkly (snow flakes aside).

I really want to see this movie! Since it's limited release, I don't know if it would be shown in Madison, WI. I hope it'll be showing there during Thanksgiving. (I live in a small college town an hour away.)

Take me away from... all this....sparkle

"Right One" isn't here for 3 weeks. Hopefully the weather cooperates and I'll be able to see it.

I think it just opened in Boston; Eric and I are trying for it this week. We have great hopes.

I think it's at Kendall Square Cinema.

It'll be in Providence by Friday, thank goodness.

It really is excellent -- the only vampire movie I've seen this millennium that hasn't made me want to drive stakes through my eyes and bury them face-down in a sealed coffin. Don't miss it!

We saw this at a free preview in Portland and had no idea what we'd been given tickets to. It's sooo wonderful.

This was shown at the Sydney Film Festival earlier this year. The translated title was "Let the Right One In". It's a really moving film, combining folklore with the kind of raw emotion and instinctive attachment that children feel. It has its share of fascinating strangeness - definitely no sparkles here!

Saw this in Pasadena on Hallow's Eve. It's beautiful and heartwrenching, what Twilight yearns to be.

We saw this at Frightfest here in the UK and the entire cinema hardly breathed. Stunning, surreal and beautiful.

I don't know if you can get the book in the US, but there are some interesting twists in there that are not in the movie. If you can get a hold of it I recommend it. It is one of the best books I've read in years, but all of Ajvides books and short stories are great.

They have been translated to english, but I don't know what countries they are availiable in.
Maybe this link is helpful, http://www.adlibris.com/se/product.aspx?isbn=1847242960, it's from the listing of the english title on a Swedish webpage. Publishing house of the english transelation is Querqus.

I agree that the book is well worth the time! It was my favorite book for several years and I'm pleased that the movie turned out so well. I heard that they will do an american version of it later (even if I can't figure out what they would want to change).

No, there's nothing sprarkly about it, at all.

that looks brilliant. I hope that it's showing around seattle. The book just went on my 'to read' list; as Yule holiday is always filled with lots of reading.

thanks for sharing.

It's lovely

I saw this in Austin on Friday and really enjoyed it. It's one of those movies you'll find yourself thinking about for several days after seeing it. The ending was particularly memorable and nuances of it didn't fully hit me until yesterday.

ah...
