So. The last few days I've been thinking about how much I enjoyed writing the vignettes for Frog Toes and Tentacles, and Spooky and I had an idea which we've been kicking about. How many people would be interested in a subscription service where, for a mere $10 a month, they'd receive two new vignettes (plus probably artwork and assorted extras), which they would get via e-mail in PDF form. I'd be limiting the project to only 125 subscribers, because I'm not sure we could handle any more than that, and the service would probably begin early in 2006, in January or February. There are a lot of details left to work out, but first I wanted to do as I did on February 5th, when I posted the poll that led to FT&T, and see what sort of interest there might be in such a project.

[Poll #598169]

I would be very much interested. Have to talk to my better half before I can say Yes, I do want to subscribe

My "no"? Mainly due to computer limitations: I'm still using a late-90s model, and checking it at work is, um, out...

It's about time someone did this. I imagine the hard part would be keeping on deadline, which you're good at from what I understand.

which you're good at from what I understand.

Yep. I'm a wiz with deadlines.

I think another good marketable item would be you or spooky (Or both) reading shorts on MP3. I'd be more then willing to spend a few sheckles, credits, brandar tiles, crindars, or currency pledges on that. Or ol US dollars if you prefer.

Hmmmm. That's one I'd have to consider.

Hmmm, I just finished setting up a server at work for automatically converting PDFs. I'll have to skull through some ideas.

I said no. Although if it did happen I would not be able to resist. So my answer is a yesno.

I just couldn't afford it. I am always interested in your writing, but...

You’d probably get my money, but I’d like to see FT&T first, so I know what I’m buying.

That's not unreasonable, I think. I'll probably repeat the poll after FT&T is released next month.

There was a time I thought this would be the model for all future writing, music and eventually video. While I'm no longer quite so sanguine about the idea, I do think it's an idea worth exploring.

In particular I think preselling subscriptions to fund the work makes infinitely more sense than doing the writing first and trying to make money via "micropayments" or whatever the jargon is these days.

As do I.

Oh, Thanks for the reminder, i had forgotten to pre-order Frog Toes and Tentacles, a grave oversite I have now corrected. Now i just need the time to read my growning stack of must reads.

I think it's a great idea, which would seem to benefit both parties. I would love a monthly erotic treat from CRK!

Just a suggestion, to take or leave: as an added incentive for people to sign up, maybe those who committed to paying for a minimum six-month period could have their names thrown into a drawing - winner would receive a monster doodle sculpture (depending on your available time, that is).

I admit my suggestion stems solely from my lust for them, among many other lusts....

That's not a bad idea, actually. Thanks.

I'd love to receive stories from you on a subscription basis. I've got all your other stuff so why not this :-). If I print them up real nice and put them in a binder will you sign them for me?
