We have a small number of people who won eBay auctions just before Katrina, and I thought I should post a note to the effect that we'll getting to those orders as soon as we can. Slowly, we're catching up. The books should all be going out next week.

I finished Deadwatch last night. I was a fun little game, but it was sort of a shame it wasn't a Really Good Game. It could have been. They might have hired an actual writer to do the writing, for example, and then it might have had a story and characters and dialogue that didn't hurt quite so much to hear. It's also a very short game. I feel like I'm beginning to see the quality and length of "story mode" dropping in new games, sacrificed for multiplayer and online functions. It's unfortunate. I've got nothing at all against online gaming. It's a great thing. But I like good, long, complex stories in my games, and I hate to see them sacrificed so there's room on the disc for a new incarnation of "capture the flag." Anyway, now it's back to Final Fantasy X-2. I have missed Yuna, Rikku, and Paine (YRP!), but I can't say I've missed the cheezola music.

If you'd like some cheering up, check out what Viggo Mortensen has to say re: the Katrina government clusterfuck and Bush in general. I promise it's not depressing; it's more like a real-world version of one of Aragorn's rousing speeches.

This site (http://projects.aeroleviathan.com/ihsb/), for those who don't enjoy Sphere Break, makes it a little easier to get the Lady Luck Dress Sphere (which is a very useful Dress Sphere to have).

Games with no story

Yeah, there are lots of games I can't finish because the story is so bad. Lots of game designers forget about the impact of a good story and think a game's success is based on graphics or gameplay. I hate it when bad voice actors mess it up also. I have some friends who work in game design and a few months ago felt the need to mention that I felt the voice actors they picked for the Mechwarrior expansions did't sound dire enough. I think my favorite games for Story are Alice, Tie Fighter, Full Throttle, Oddworld, Starcraft and Riddick.

Farscape Game

oh, and the Farscape game. Game play was so so but it was another episode of Farscape so it really didn't matter to me.

Y...R...P...In position. It's showtime, girls! ^_^

It's music isn't nearly as cheesy as some other games (or a lot of anime themes O_O;;) and I miss some of them horribly. If you like the unusual gameplay of FFX-2 (in contrast to the other FF games) you might want to try FF8. I loved the story and plot, and the magic system was very intriguing. It also had some really great music (Nobu Uematsu did most of the FF music up to 10, including many of the themes that have remained consistent through all of the games.)

Oh, and that adorable fluff was named Rikku after Rikku-although he's a bit fluffier, a bit less of a spas, and has since grown to be a 20 POUND kitten from hell. O_O;;
