"Like maybe I'm not born to die, but to bring darkness to the skies."

Today, I have to number:

1. Two Worlds and In Between has been chosen by Publisher's Weekly as one of 2011's one hundred best books, and also as one of the six best fantasy and science-fiction books of 2011. Spooky gave me the news yesterday. I'm still sort of stunned. So, to review:

a) The book has SOLD OUT.
b) It was a Publisher's Weekly "pick of the week" (appearing on the ToC page).
c) The book got a great write up in The New York Times.
d) Gary Wolfe at Locus loved it.
e) And PW has named it one of the six best spec-fic titles of 2011.

Can I please get a "That'll do, Beast. That'll do."?

2. Tomorrow, the BIG DARK HORSE TEASE will become the BIG DARK HORSE REVEAL. I will be occupied with preparations for this a good bit of today.

3. If you have not yet already voted, please go the poll. Another 26* votes (I asked for 100 "yes" votes), and you just might get another studio project from me, the first since 1999. And yeah, the idea is that the songs would be available via as many services as possible, but definitely iTunes and Bandcamp. This would NOT be a Kickstarter project. All songs WOULD be covers, no originals.

4. Yesterday, I stared down the iMac screen, and the words finally began to flow. I wrote 1,127 words on a new short story, or novelette, or short novella called "Ex Libris." This is for the chapbook to accompany the limited edition of Confessions of a Five-Chambered Heart. I hope to be finished on or near the 16th of the month. Then there's the next Dark Horse script to begin.

5. Last night, Kathryn and I began watching Series Four of Torchwood, and...wow. I, for one, am very pleased.

6. Subterrean Press says to me, "We've been down to only one full-time shipper in the warehouse for the past month -- our usual complement is three -- so copies of TWO WORLDS are still shipping. Please advise folks not to despair. Our second full-timer started yesterday, and should be able to quicken the shipping on the BEST OF YOU. (We also have a third shipper on board in December, thank goodness.)" So, sit tight, those who do not yet have their copies.

I think that's all for now. I have email, phone calls, an annoying Siamese cat, and a story to deal with. When do I get a full-time "oh shit!" girl?

Rather pleased,
Aunt Beast

Oh, well done indeed. I shall raise a glass in your honour, if you'd deem it apt.

Woohoo for you on 'Two World and In Between', and waiting curiously for #2.

Can I please get a "That'll do, pig. That'll do."?

Yes, you can, and the singing mice will be your jukebox.

I eagerly await my copy in the post. I am just impatient, is all.

Please enjoy what you can of Torchwood's fourth outing. It starts off with the sense of "Whew! Look what a big American budget can do!" and then goes to, "Oh. Look what a big American budget can do."

Still, I'd rather have spotty Torchwood than none at all.

Congratulations on all your accolades, lady. You are completely worth it.

Two Worlds and In Between sold out? So much for one of my Saturnalia gifts. Perhapse someone will find me a copy, slightly used, somewhat bloodstained, in our local book exchange.

Congrats on the success of Two Worlds and In Between! I got my shipping notice today, and I'm so excited!

That'll do, Beast, that'll do.
It is truly a wonderous and grand collection and we, your readers, are very fortunate to have so much Aunt Beast-ly excellence in one volume.

That'll do pig. That'll do. Congratulations! I am really looking forward to the big reveal tomorrow. I'm still drooling over that one piece of artwork you posted a link to.

As far as season 4 of Torchwood goes, it starts out great, but I think it tends to lose focus about halfway in. I did enjoy it, but it certainly does not compare well to the previous "Children of Earth," which I personally loved.

For those who missed Two Worlds I have some suggestions. Hopefully they prove to be helpful.

1. Contact SubPress and let Bill know you would buy a second printing of the book if he does it. If a demand is there it could happen. If he doesn't know there is a demand it will never happen.

2. Sign up for the SubPress newsletter. Sometimes boxes of books long out of print books show up and the books are sold at original price. The newsletter is the easiest way to hear if this occurs.

3. Abebooks and Alibris connect to many booksellers and the book should show up there eventually. Most of Caitlin's books can be found there.

4. Ebay. There are two limited copies listed now (for more money than I could afford)

Caitlin, thanks for more Dancy. She has become one of my favourite fictional characters.
I am very excited to read about her and her world again.

I got a shipping notice from Subterranean Press that my copy shipped today. I am now eagerly waiting for my copy. Not that I wasn't already.

I received my limited edition copy of "Two Worlds and In Between" today (I live on the Lost Coast of northern California, out in the hinterlands, and it takes extra time for packages to get here anyway).
It's absolutely gorgeous, and well worth the wait. Another reason I'm glad I'm hooked onto your journal, so I was able to pre-order my copy in time. Many thanks, Aunt Beast.

Congratulations on the increasing and well deserved accolades for Two World and In Between!

Last week's tease was a very surreal experience of synchronicity. I've only recently started to fill in the gaps of missing Dark Horse Grendel since I stopped collecting in the early nineties, and now have something else to really look forward to with the big reveal.

Am currently nearing the end of streaming Torchwood S4. Everything has its good and bad points, but overall it's been an enjoyable ride with some meaningful character exploration and development (and cussing!) amidst the shocking plot-points and humor.

Accolades & Praise

You deserve every bit. Job well done!

Good stuff, Beast!

And yeah, I'd like to see you do a covers album...

My copy just arrived. It is absolutely, utterly gorgeous. I saw Lee Moyer a couple of weeks ago and he showed me the cover on his iPad. The cover was beautiful then, but it's so much more amazing on your book.

I suspect I'm going to get very little done until I've devoured this book.

I'm certain it's deserving its accolades. Congratulations!

Well done!

I received my copy in the mail this morning (in New Mexico). It is *stunning*. I only had time to briefly fondle it before I had to leave for work, but I am setting aside some serious alone time for us later this evening.

so copies of TWO WORLDS are still shipping

Congrats on the increasingly excellent news about TWAIB.

I received my Ltd Ed copy over here in the land of Oz (a.k.a. Australia) in the mail yesterday. It actually arrived while I was out collecting a special ordered copy of a book of Ray Bradbury interviews I had my local bookshop request in for me.

Yes, yesterday was a Joyous Book Day.

And what a sublime production the Ltd Ed is. Just fucking gorgeous.

The effort you put into the book was more than worth it.

Congrats again!

And more.

Congratulations.

Many congratulations for many excellent things.

Just got my shipping order, and I am very excited to receive The Book!

Seriously

Is there anything a college intern could help you with? My partner has an intern helping her which is hilarious. The student receives work study credit for the semester. Granted since Sandy is a photographer/ professor, her intern helps with physical things like framing, hanging a show or assisting her at classes.

I know, yes, writing is a far more internal thing. But maybe you need an intern to sort through your papers, organize, and the like?

Oh, and gee, there's that other little thing... huge congratulations on the great news about Two Worlds and In Between. Shorty Von Eldritch is cracking a grim smile for you.

How did you get working with SubPress originally? I'm glad you do work together; I've had solid dealings and happy experiences with them as a consumer. It's a good outfit. You know that, but I'll say that for people who aren't you.

When do I get a full-time "oh shit!" girl?

Your own Fabulous Lorraine? Imagine the possibilities!

The notice came today, that my copy is on its way to Colorado. Yay!

I see Amazon.com is offering a Kindle version of Two Worlds for $4.99.
Not the best solution maybe but it does get the words in front of the eyes and the stories in the hands.
