Every thing you tell us about this novel - the paintings, the stories within stories - whets my appetite for it. Much as I love The Red Tree (and that's a helluva lot), I want The Drowning Girl to knock it into a cocked hat.
But yeah, get yourself as far away as you can from it, too.
