I was at the bookstore yesterday and decided to flip through The Book of Cthulhu. I ended up reading Klein's "Black Man with a Horn," because I was aware of Joshi's praise for it. I didn't think it was possible to tell such a self-aware Lovecraftian story without slipping into parody, let alone one that blends itself into the dull rhythms of an old man's life.
Anyway, I thought that was rather good. A shame this guy doesn't publish more often.
