BTW, I'm a bit shocked to hear about the silicosis. I would have just assumed that basic safety procedures (a freakin' paper freakin' mask) would have been followed by any university having you doing that kind of work.

Thing is, the RMM wasn't affiliated with a university. It was a private foundation, and our science department was sort of cobbled together. Like I said, when I left Birmingham for Boulder, I was taught safety precautions, and my professors were appalled I hadn't been taught them sooner.

On top of it all, I bet the potential cyanosis doesn't even match your correct skin tone.

Let's hope it never comes to that.
