Slit of light

Too much to say in this entry, or not much of anything at all. The net result is the same.

Yesterday, we read all the way through "A Key to the Castleblakeney Key," my story for The Thackery T. Lambshead Cabinet of Curiosities. It's an odd piece, but I am especially fond of it. It was a relief to read the whole thing, and discover that it works.

I did some line editing on it, afterwards, and sent it away to the book's editors.

It was more work than it sounds like.

Stories for Sirenia Digest #58 is next on the list. I have to manage to get this issue of the digest out without Photoshop. The cover will, by necessity, have a new look, which is unfortunate, as I was just getting happy with the look of the covers.

Please have a look at the eBay auctions. The late check got lost on its way from Manhattan to Providence, and taxes have to be paid, and Oregon's coming up fast.

Also, I have to say, I'm less than pleased with anyone who buys a book from us on eBay, then turns around a month or so later and tries to sell it on Amazon at twice what they paid us for it. I will not name names, this time. Next time, I will.

Maybe I'll be coherent tomorrow.

That is ATROCIOUS. What the fucking hell is wrong with people?

I am glad you are fond of the piece, and I look forward to it.

That really sucks! I would never do that, but I suppose there are people who do this all the time (I am reminded of record dealers who managed to get backstage, got bands to sign stacks of albums, singles and CDs, who them went to record shows and sold them for double since they were autographed). Next time, name and shame!

Maybe you should make up a Kiernan fan quiz that they have to pass before you will mail the book to them ;)
People are assholes. I would never ever sell it. It means too much to me.

I mean this wholeheartedly and honest, but why aren't you selling your books on Amazon for twice the rate that you're getting on EBay? Seems like that would get you additional money for your works and stop the resellers.

There are two types of auctions: those that involve people who actually want to own the item up for auction and those that involve people who want to hold onto the item until it appreciates. Unfortunately, these two types of auctions are not divided in any way and oftentimes people who want to own an item (or read a book) are bidding against people who are looking for a quick way to double their money.

This sucks (as the kids say). It pisses me off on the same level as people who sell ARCs of highly anticipated novels months before the release date for hundreds of dollars.

Do what you can. Name names. State in your auction that you intend for this to be a way for fans to support an artist they adore and you will being naming names if any reselling takes place. Give negative feedback for reselling your work.

Nice. I look forward to seeing how it turned out.

Maybe I'll be coherent tomorrow.

Eh. Occasionally coherency is overrated.

Writing does take alot more than ink and paper. To get this story, a five page nothing,
It took two days of fantasy tripping. To get a novel outline that is so sparse that it hardly counts it took six hours and a lot of wasted paper.
Sorry trees I have no computer except this smartphone.
