I hear you. I've only ever gotten a handful of decent ones (http://www.flickr.com/photos/cherie_priest/sets/333421/) myself - and then, only because I worked in a building that had once hosted the pro-shop of a golf course.
Turtles kind of stand out on a putting green.
(The grounds were still maintained, but Eastern Painteds were found all over the premises - so fortunately, the property couldn't be developed further. Likewise fortunately, the groundspeople were very careful to beware of the wildlife - something I always appreciated.)
