I don't think LJ will die (says the person with a permanent account) but I think it has become less attractive to the short attention span types. Facebook and Twitter do not require a lot of thought; just be obsessive.
And it's important to note that LJ has always been a bit of a niche, rarely the "next big thing." That's an advantage to me.
