The Dream-Quest is simply brilliant. I regard it as HPL's finest work. The man literally--literally--combed through the entire 21-volume set of Fraser's Golden Bough for every last archetypal image and fashioned them into a completely new, completely mindblowing philosophical adventure novel.
Too bad its "sequel" "Through the Gates of the Silver Key" was so abysmal. But, then again, that's why Grandpa Theobald never liked to write sequels.
