I've read in a few places that apparently the throwing of shoes is a grave insult in the community. I love that he managed to get both shoes off and pitched before the secret service guys got to him, ahahaha!
Yep. I suspected there was a specific cultural significance to the shoes. Still. Stones would have been nice.
