Who in their right minds paints anything outdoors, (or indoors!) in hot pink?
People in New Orleans! Oh, wait ... you said in their right minds. Never mind. And actually, we prefer purple. But I do think the pink and other brightly colored houses here are a key element to the pleasantly Caribbean feel of the city.
You don't see it much in New Orleans anymore, but some people in Cajun country even paint their family tombs a pale pink or blue. They look quite pretty in the midst of all that blinding whitewash.
