Another fantastically unproductive day yesterday. Those have to stop. But, on the other hand, I did just finish a long and difficult novel on November 13th, then went straight into work on the tedious Threshold revisions, and then straight on to Sirenia Digest #1. I reminded myself yesterday that I should cut myself a tiny bit of slack. I've hardly paused to catch my breath for months. But, on the other hand, I still have "Bainbridge" to start and finish this month, and all of Alabaster to edit, and I need to begin getting Daughter of Hounds ready for my editor (prettying the ms. up a bit), and there's still the layout for Sirenia Digest to be done (still waiting on Vince's illustration). So, I'm trying not to be too hard on myself for these recent unproductive days, but I can't become too forgiving, either, as there's still so much to be done this month alone. I've sworn to Spooky that we get a smallish vacation in February, maybe a trip to Jacksonville to look for fossils on the beach, a few days away from the keyboard and the telephone.

People should be getting their copies of Frog Toes and Tentacles this coming week, if they haven't gotten them already. I have some news, by the way. By generous arrangement with Subterranean Press, none of the lettered state of the book have been offered for sale prior to publication. Not a single one. Of those 26 copies, ten will be retained by subpress to be used as gifts, promotions, etc. The other sixteen copies go to me, and I'll be selling them on eBay. Not all at once, but over time. So, if you're a collector and there's a particular letter you'd like, you might want to drop me an e-mail to see if I'll have that particular book (lowredmail@mac.com). There are still a few copies of the trade editions of both FT&T and To Charles Fort, With Love available, by the way. The limited editions of both books have now sold out. I am very pleased that 224 people bought the numbered edition of FT&T!

I've been very preoccupied with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe since we saw the movie Friday afternoon. It really was wonderful. I spent half an hour yesterday making White Witch icons. Hell, I even liked Alanis Morrisette's contribution to the soundtrack, and I usually find her more than a tad irksome. However, I am annoyed that she can't be bothered pronounce "wunderkind" right and that no one corrected her. Then again, this is the girl who clearly had no clue as to the meaning of "ironic," and no one corrected her on that, either. I'll admit she made a pretty good god, though.

Oh, a reminder to Sirenia Digest subscribers. December will be the first month that I'll be giving away a monster doodle sculpture to one of the subscribers. And since I can really only manage one monster doodle sculpture a month, that means that I'll not likely be putting another one up on eBay any time soon. If you've subscribed, your name will be in the pot for the drawing for Monster Doodle Sculpture #5. And it's not too late to subscribe for Issue #1. Just click here, read the FAQ, and subscribe. It's a pretty good deal for only a scant ten dollars a months, if I do say so myself (and I do).

Yesterday, when I'd finally had all the frustration I could take for one day (about three p.m.), I abandoned the keyboard and got dressed, and Spooky and I went for a long walk. We ended up in Freedom Park, as so often happens. It was decently warm in the sun, and there were just enough clouds that the blue sky didn't seem quite so threatening. I am desperately trying to get enough exercise. Afterwards, we went in search of a used hardback of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, as we're more than halfway through the first book. Four used bookstores later, we did at least manage to find a cheap hardback of HP and the Goblet of Fire. It looks as though we'll be getting the three HP books we don't yet have off eBay. We may read Garth Nix's The Rag Witch while we await the arrival of HP and the Chamber of Secrets. I know you care.

Last night, we read for a couple of hours, then I washed up on the sofa and watched an episode of Invader Zim, an episode of South Park, and then The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934). Leslie Howard and Raymond Masse are both delicious in that film, and I hadn't seen it in ages. And that was unremarkable Saturday. Today, I have D&D with friends, and then tomorrow it's back to the slog of words and e-mail. I really have to get started on "Bainbridge." But first, because we must keep our priorities straight, I have to play a crossdressing, lawful good, half-celestial/half-human paladin named Jared (or Ivorwen, depending).
