You mean there is a point where you should stop revising?

Well, if you ever intend to publish the thing, clearly there has to be a point where revisions end. But determining that point is a subjective decision that rests with the author. There's no way for anyone else to ever say, with authority, "That's finished. Don't touch it." Likely, in an objective sense, nothing is ever "finsihed." But you do have to stop, regardless. And, indeed, constant revisions may undo some of the good stuff you've done.

And there are no magic bullets.

I didn't used to do quite so much revision, since I generally revise as I write (which can be difficult for people to understand, unless they see me do it). I began revising more with The Dry Salvages in '03-'04 (I'm not sure why).

I have been revising for like a year now.

Again, it's a subjective call, but I'd say it's probably time to stop.

I mean what do you do if you find yourself writing a story that already exist.

That depends how much like Threshold it is.

Lastly, is it me or do the thought-breaks in Threshold look like little assholes?
