I wanted a female paladin and wasn't enamoured of the female dwarves and didn't have the expansion yet, therefore my main toon ended up being human. It worked out okay. My partner created a human warlock and we leveled to 70 together. I kind of like the irony of a holy paladin hanging out with a chick who calls up demons, lol. There must be a story behind THAT.
