Quarantine is, I believe, the only horror film in nearly twenty years to actually, truly frighten the living shit out of me. Mind you, the fact that I am absolutely terrified of ever being bitten by a rabid animal--a longtime phobia of mine--certainly helped this along, but the thing I found most frightening about the film was its relentless atmosphere of dread: the constant sound of police sirens and flashing lights outside the sealed-up windows created a horribly-claustrophobic sense of being caught up in the heart of a disaster. And that's one of the most frightening situations a person could ever be in.
