Did you see Neil Gaiman's recent post about the email he received after it was announced he's going to be writing Batman? It's just... astonishing. But then I suppose I shouldn't let myself be so amazed by this kind of behaviour. I mean, the guy's only going to be writing two issues of a comic book.
It seems to me that it doesn't matter how contentious or non-contentious an author's public journal is. They will still be hit with tremendously stupid and crazy emails. And people who 'threaten' to never buy a writer's books again, because of something said on a blog, will probably still buy them anyway in the hope of finding something offensive they can complain about.
