I tried pen-and-paper journaling for years and it never worked. LJ seems to have been the trick for me. I've journaled some specific activities, but nothing like what I do with LJ.

The comparison to HPL is fantastic. I could easily see a similar situation once I'm done with academia. Being 37, having a family, and being in grad school is far more challenging on my time than I would like.
