Does preordering from Barnes & Noble help you as much as preordering from Amazon? I kind-of-sort-of boycott Amazon usually.

It's the same, either way. My royalties, which I never make anyway, are not determined by where the books are bought. It only matters to my publishers that the ARE bought.

Thank you for sharing the Sirenia extract. Maybe this is too easy a comparison, but it really does remind me of the rough exhilaration and unease of reading A Clockwork Orange for the first time.

Have you ever heard of/considered the book Remarkable Creatures, by the way? It's a historical fiction novel about Mary Anning's life and fossil discoveries,

I've seen it, but I have a non-fiction biography about her in the to-be-read stack, so it'll be a while before I could read it.
